Hanna Al-Baaj and Fellow Basketball Teammates Make R-K History

Hanna Al Baaj, Basketball II

March 2021 - It's Women's History Month, and we start by celebrating the historic accomplishments of one of our own: Hanna Al-Baaj '21.

On February 11, 2021, Rosati-Kain basketball player and team captain, Hanna Al-Baaj, scored her 1,000th high school career point. She is only the 4th player in R-K history to do that! But she didn’t stop there... Hanna ends her senior season as the 3rd All Time Scorer at Rosati-Kain. How incredible! Congratulations, Hanna! We are thrilled to be able to celebrate you.

The history making moments don't stop there for this year's Rosati-Kain Basketball Seniors. This group went from a 3-18 record as Freshman to capping off their final year with a 15-8 record, giving them the highest winning percentage of any R-K team in the past 22 years. Congratulations to our Seniors—Katie O'Connell, Mya Bethany, Hanna Al-Baaj, Zaire Payton, Damirah King, Abby Malone, Jasmyn Mitchell, and Team Manager Maggie Lonero—and this year's underclassmen who were a large part of this season's success—Juniors Jaynie Chatman and Lucy Richmond and Sophomores Brooke Elston and Lauren Grebing.

Thank you to this year's Rosati-Kain Basketball Team for a great season! Here's a list of this year's awards:

  • Sportsmanship Award - Junior Lucy Richmond
  • Most Improved - Senior Zaire Payton and Abby Malone
  • 6th Player Award - Senior Jasmyn Mitchell
  • Offensive Player - Senior Mya Bethany
